Islay - Sea Fishing

The Queen of the Hebrides is well known for its powerful malt whiskies whose flavour are infused with the stormy salt waters that crash against the peaty headlands of the isle.

As a keen sea fisher, I’m well attuned to the Atlantic currents, creating a rich feeding ground for numerous sea fish and impart them with a flavour second only to the malts themselves.

As well as catching myriad mackerel, powerful Pollock, occasional cod, rays and tope I am also partial to supplementing self-caught seafood with the occasional crustacean. Rarely resisting the island's plentiful supply of crab, lobster and langoustine, bought from a harbour beside one of the islands whitewashed and storm washed stills.
