Lowland - Sea Trout

All too many people pass straight through the region without sparing a thought for either its whiskies or fish. This for me however, is something of a blessing, for it means I often have the Borders's untamed beauty all to myself.

Between the rolling hills run numerous burns, streams and rivers, not only a perfect source for Scotland’s finest drink; but home to the sea trout, the country's most enigmatic fish.

Perhaps my favourite quarry, the sea trout is mysterious, powerful, and best fished for on a warm summer's eve. The charms of heading down to the river at dusk, alone save for the occasional barn owl and perhaps a small hip flask, I like to breath in the Scottish summer air and reflect on the days gone by.
