HIGHLAND Whisky Region
The Highlands of Scotland are moving and unforgettable, carved through the ages from one of the world's oldest mountain ranges.
When the poet wrote ‘Scotland thy beauty is wild and majestic’ he was thinking of the Highlands. The north and west of the country is the last wilderness in Europe, a land of rugged mountains, lakes and fast-flowing rivers, forests and castles.
While Highland malts are not as peaty in comparison to Islay, the slightest hint of smoke can often be detected on the nose. Home of the Scottish clans and full of romance and story, the malts made here capture the spirit of the place – wild flowers, the scents of moorland, fresh heather, and the sappy flavours of pine forests.
